53 steps to create unique pieces
Fabric, cuffs, placket, pences, button color and monograms are just a few of the personalisation choices in which we support the client and that influences our creations.
Since the first appointment - usually at least 30 min long, followed by another test - we have learned to decipher and collect tastes, lifestyle, habits, body type and posture: factors that translate into balance and wearability.
An item from Della Sorte will rest perfectly on the shoulders and the collar - the most important and visible part - will be calibrated to the millimeter in height, opening, distance between the points, curvature and internal rigidity.
At Della Sorte all crafting operations are done by hand or with flat-seamed tools, in full respect of the classic artisanal method.
Measurements are followed by a first sample shirt that, once perfected, will become the reference model for the customer.
From the cut of fabric to the preparation and assembling of the individual parts, from sewing to finishing, a tailor-made Della Sorte shirt includes 53 single steps, (8 for the cuffs, 22 for the collar and 23 for the torso). Each step accordingly to an artisan tradition is carefully done by hand or using flat seam machinery.
Even the best cotton is subject to shrinkage to after use because it is a natural material. We keep it in account while achieving a perfect fit by giving an ease right where it needs to be. Della Sorte shirts thus guarantee long-lasting comfort and represent unique pieces expressing, every time, old and new needs.
The cotton count is the ratio between the length and weight of the thread and is, in general, the parameter that defines the quality of a fabric.
Good quality cotton has yarn-count between 80’s and 120’s while if it comes with 140’s to 200’s count you get an excellent quality fabric.
Della Sorte customers can choose from an extremely wide variety of cotton fabric with different counts: alongside the wide range between 80’s and 120’s, comfortable and resistant to washes, Della Sorte offers the possibility to make shirts with 140’s, 170’s, 200’s and even 300’s cotton, produced only by a few companies in the world and requested by our most demanding customers.
